I Became a Grandmother

The only quilt that I have ever asked Grandmother to make for me was my quilt to match my "Grandbaby Room." That was in 2001, when Bradley would unknowingly enter the world 11 weeks early.  Making Don and I grandparents for the first time.  This quilt has covered each of our grandbabies (except Olivia). Jaime, I'll have to bring it to Colorado next time I come!  Thank you Grandmother for welcoming each of your grands and greatgrands into the world and into the heritage of a loving family.

One of the first handmade gifts that Grandmother made for me was soon after Don and I married (note the country blue.)  Little did I know that her cross- stitch gifts would be so rare! She has so many artistic outlets..quilting, sewing, cross-stitch, crochet, and watercolor painting.  Did I leave any out?

Vancouver Quilt

One year, Grandmother, Vickie and I went to Vancouver.  We stayed on Granville Island which is the home of an art school and many very artistic people.  Grandmother spotted a watercolor quilt display and from that many quilts including this one were "birthed."

Breast Cancer under shirts

Grandmother... you have such a huge heart. I don't have pictures of these, but for one of my Junior League of Austin placements, I agreed to sew undershirts for Breast Cancer survivors. I don't know why I agreed to do that because I still can't sew. I've always wanted to learn how, but have never made the time. Well, I called Grandmother and begged (it didn't take much) her to help me make these under shirts for a very good cause. Grandmother showed me how to cut out the patterns. I cut the material and she sewed them. I can't remember how many we made(mostly she made), but it was a LOT!

Thank you, Grandmother, for helping me out and making these under shirts for such a good cause. I know they touched the lives of the cancer survivors in ways we will never know. I love you for so many reasons, but your heart for giving is a big one! Love you always, Rose Marie

Clothes for Girls 3

One of my all time favorite dresses for the girls were these bright pink dresses that had butterflies all over them. Not only did I love them, but Erin and Ruth loved them. Ruth still picks this dress out to wear over one year after we got them. Of course, she is wearing Erin's now! :O) We used these dresses for our family photos in June of 2008 and absolutely loved the results. Grandmother, I can't thank you enough for all the beautiful clothes you have made for the girls! We love you... the Dillon clan

Clothes for Girls 2

In September 2009, Grandmother called me. She was telling me about the newest dresses she had made the girls. When she went to the fabric store, they didn't have any Halloween material she liked. So she just picked out another type of material and made the girls some beautiful dresses. It means a lot to me that she always tries to make the clothes something I would pick out. Can't post the clothes without posting the girls! Erin (5) and Ruth (3) in October 2009.

Clothes for girls

Over the years, Grandmother has made so many things for me and my family. Every year around Halloween, Grandmother will make outfits for the girls to wear. The outfits in this picture are actually from when Erin was 1 and Sarah would have been 4. In this pictures, Ruth is just about 1 and Erin is 3. Thank you, Grandmother, for all the beautiful clothing you have made for my girls.
